Madeleine McDowell, MD
Senior PrincipalMadeleine leverages a decade of clinical experience in leading the development and application of Sg2’s data analytic tools and providing clinical insight for all Sg2 research—service line, strategic planning, performance strategy and clinical technology. As medical director, she provides thought leadership in quality in collaboration with experts across the Vizient and Sg2 organization, and she partners with member health systems as a strategic advisor and health care industry expert in market strategy, quality and analytics.
Her involvement with the annual updates of Sg2’s Impact of Change® forecasts and CARE Grouper ensures rigorous clinical oversight is applied. In addition, she oversees the development of new data analytic methodologies and integration with Vizient analytics.
Madeleine is a trusted advisor to many health systems and nationally recognized children’s hospitals and provides thought leadership to Sg2’s women’s health and pediatrics Intelligence teams. She is a frequent speaker at Sg2 educational events, executive leadership meetings, board retreats and industry conferences. In addition, Madeleine applies her clinical expertise to customized client engagements that utilize Sg2 Analytics for strategic planning, clinical integration, innovation and technology acquisition, care redesign optimization, and facility planning.
Board certified in pediatrics, Madeleine spent more than 10 years in clinical practice, including serving as a hospitalist at Boston Children’s Hospital and a faculty member of Harvard Medical School. She was a past clinical advisor for the Children’s Hospital Association and a keynote speaker at its annual meetings.
Madeleine received an MD from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her civic duties include medical volunteer work for a community health center.
